4wd Retail Question

I"m curious to know from you 4wd guys, and even you 2wd guys. If a retail store/custom shop opened up in say..... Tonginoxie, specializing in Truck Accessories and Custom Metal work (mainly off-road stuff, but some Street stuff also), and they had good prices on products and REAL good prices on install... would you guys be inclined to check them out, even if you have to drive to Tongi to do it? and better yet, if you liked their set-up and attitude towards their customers, would you consider them over say, 4x4Land or some of the other big names?? Please let me know your thoughts..... this is once again, just curiousity tryin to kill the cat.

Probably not.

I know they have the truck accessory shop down in Manhattan and I've only been there once. Most of the products I buy, I purchase online. I don't do hard core off-roading anymore but I still like performance from my truck.

I also think that most guys who go off-road are the do-it-yourself type.

I probably would check them out but I do most of the wrenching on my vehicle myself even if it included installing a lift. Most of my parts I buy online.

You're right Ryan, I would be surprised. You need lots of cash to sustain a hobby were equipment is tested until it fails. To let someone else fix it makes it that much more expensive.

But in todays world where parents let their kids drive H2's to school, I suppose there are more people who don't even dream of turning a wrench on their ride.

How sad

Off roading is challenging and many times you have to improvise. Having someone else do your work, seems to miss out on the satisfaction of doing it yourself and passing a test. Some work you need to have others do, but the bulk needs to be done by the person behind the wheel doing the damage.

My 2 cents.

To me that is the rewarding part of building your own vehicle.
