Ever seen a pinion go through the housing of a Dana 60?... I have!
Well,, I went up to Silver Lake for the last time this year and manged to destroy the front axle in my SD. I launched it over a hill and when the front wheels hit the ground, the driveshaft spun the pinon into two pieces. The worst part is that the ring gear grabbed the broken pinon and pushed it through the top of the diff housing... Can that be welded??? 
I figure if I can find a weld shop that can weld cast then I can throw a new set of gears in it and have it fixed. Otherwise, I'm off to the late model bone yard in search of a front axle.
