Does anybody have the 18" Goodyear ats upgrade tires on there FX4? My question relating to these tires is this,,,,,I have the Vibration problem and FORD thinks it's the BFG tires that are on the truck are the problem. Has anyone had the Goodyear's put on there truck and they actually help? or does anyone have these tires and still have a vibration problem? I have a Reg. Cab Fx4 3.73 ls. Any comments would be appreciated.
its not the bfg tire, i have heard many complaints about the vibration. most have been bad tire balancing , my mom has the 18 ats on her truck, she lieks them, i want bfg a/t, i got the crappy general tires on my truck, why would ford put those crappy tires on them, and only 255's , what were they thinking
My goodyears are horrible, I have had them balanced about 15 times at different shops. My steering wheel shakes between 65-75 sporadically. Sometimes it is smooth, other times it shakes like crazy. If the truck sits a few days, it takes about a week to get any smoothness back to the steering wheel. My tires seem to get flat spots easy. The dealer is going to either try new tires, or a new steering rack.
Mine has Goodyear on them and I hvae almost 3000 miles on them and they are doing just Fine. I thing that the FX4 is just a little stiffer ride than the other trucks. It is a lot stiffer than my '99 xlt 2x4.
I have these tires, never been a fan of Goodyear, though these are good tires from my initial impression. No vibration from mine. I will be switching to Michelins asap though.
Well some of the problems HAVE been the BFGs!!! I am a Tech at a Ford dealer and we HAVE done several trucks with the BFGs and the problem was NOT a balance issue. Also the BFGs are Rugged trails not all-terrains. I love how so many people know so much and haven't had any first hand experience with what they know so much about. So far we haven't had any problems with the AT/Ss.
FX4 with the 18" LT Goodyears and 7500 miles with zero problems, shakes or shimmies I have rotated them once. I always rotate every 5,000 miles. Keeps the tire wear to a minimum and makes the tires last a lot longer.
