Quick - What are my Good Year 18" take offs worth?

Putting new tires on my FX4. The place offered me about $200 for my 265 x 18 Good Years with 5000 miles on them. Can I realistically get more by selling them myself on ebay or is that a fair price?

BTW - putting 325/65R18 Toyo Open Country A/Ts on the stock wheels.

That's a fair price in my opinion. I got $240 for my four 265/60R18's from Discount Tire ... and I had 25 miles on them. Being an odd 18" size, there's not much resale value in them for a used tire. Since you already have 5000 miles on them, take the money and run. It's too much trouble to GAMBLE on ebay with shipping, etc.

How are you able to fit 325's on a stock 7.5" wide wheel!? I didn't think you could do that.

They fit alright, just not perfect. They rub slightly on the lower arm at full crank (with the Autospring 1.5 spacer). You can tell the tire is wide, but it looks better and will work until I come up with another grand for wheels. The guys at the shop (LesSchwab) didn't have any concerns with putting that tire on the 7.5 wheel. I might have to run a few less psi in them to keep them wearing flat. But it looks good so far.

This is an interesting point, and one I have been trying to figure out for a while now. While my wheels are the smaller 17 inchers, I've run into the same problem...getting a large diameter tire on these skinny stock rims. The shops here in CA won't usually put that wide of a tire on our stock rims if the manufacturer doesn't allow it, so how are so many people getting these huge tires on the stick rims? More specifically, I've heard the biggest thing to do is for those with 17's is to get some Hummer H2 tires from a local dealer as customer trade-ins or take-offs for dirt cheap, but BFG states the minimum rim width is 8 or 8.8 inches...how are you all doing this?

I'd say the biggest difference is that you're in Cali and I'm in Idaho.

I had thought about dropping down to 17s and running the Hummer take-offs, but that would cost more than what I'm doing.
One of the reasons I felt safe with this setup because another guy on FTW put 35 inch BFG mudders on his stock FX4 18-inch wheels and didn't have any trouble. My new Toyos are 33.4 inches, but they're 13 inches wide.

So tire shops in Idaho don't care if they mount the tire on a rim that's not recomended by the tire manufacturer? Not trying to be harsh at all, because I really REALLY want to get bigger tires but don't want new rims. I'm just trying to figure this out....maybe i'll go buy my own wheel/tire mounter and balencer! Thanks.

I would keep the old ones for a while until I was sure I wasn't going to have problems with the new tires. Then sell them on Ebay.

325 x 65 x 18's need 9-10" of rim... 9.5 is recommended. Their also 3200lbs each tires at 50lbs. On 7.5" rims I'd be firguring 25-30lb each and figure on a few second delay when you turn the wheel. To run those tires with all the tread on the road the truck will handle like a 66 Lincoln on 1/2 flat tires.. Good Luck..
