well i just got my 6.0 back from the dealer and it still smokes. They replaced the VGT actuator i believe and that seems to help the throttle response but it still smokes when hard acceleration. is this normal? tech told me that when the motor is cold it is normal for it to smoke. my vin #(SNIP)
its a 2004, build date is 9/03 engine date . engine is a 2003 model. about 18000 miles
The actuator replacement hasn't been entered in the system yet... it may take some time to show up.
It shows two processor (PCM) replacements and a reflash on 10/23/2003. All of this appears to be pre-delivery, as the truck shows a warranty start date of January 2004. Is this correct?
Could this have been a buy back.............eek...shudder to think that
It didn't document a post-delivery re-inspection and check in... So I don't believe it was.
Some dealers will drive the vehicle 5-10 miles on the PDI to check for issues. This one may have had a problem when it rolled off the carrier, and was taken care of at the dealer before it left the lot.
well i did purchase this pickup the 1st of Jan. don't remember the exact mileage when i bought it but i can check into that but i think it was real low mileage. I have taken it into the dealer and they did a reflash twice i believe so i don't know why it shows oct???? i'm lost
Black smoke when accelerating hard on a cold engine is normal. That said, hard acceleration on a cold engine is not going to add to longevity of the motor.
