Is that installed? If you want to do it yourself, the actual cost of the engine is about 1500, that is a long block (no oil pan, intake, or valve covers) and not bored more than .030" over and the crank not turned more than .010"/.010" (RM) undersize.
There would be a core charge if you didn't have it pulled already, I think it runs about $375. I do require that they are pre paid before they get ordered, because I can't send them back without a susbstantial restocking fee from Four Star.
I will try to get an exact price for you tomorrow. If you want them to add a better cam or anything, let me know and I will call and ask.

Thanks Mattsbox99. That price was installed, rad rebuilt, and trans rebuilt. My son who is 16 wants to keep the bronco, but he also wants a truck. So I am leaving it up to him to decide. The bronco use to get about 11 mpg, but now due to weather and the crap that Missoula puts in its gas durning the winter, he get's about 8 mpg. The body is in good shape. Needs a new tailgate. Brakes are new and had a complete tune-up and all hose's replaced last summer. He does want more power. But all his money right now is going to snow boarding. I don't know if that price is good or not. It is a automotive place that we have been using for about 2 years. They have been around along time and seem to know what they are doing. I am not mechanically smart. Plus only having about 40% of my arm useage doesn't help.
Again, thanks for your help.

I wouldn't rebuild the trans or radiator if you didn't need it...
Its not too difficult to do but you do need some special equipment that you can rent.
We have a store in Missoula so you could get a quote from them, I think my computer showed it as $1502 with a $400 core, I don't think there is a freight charge, if so its only about $50.
The 460 I looked up was $1638 plus a $400 core, we have that one at the warehouse in town so there isn't any freight charge on that one.

Hey there everyone! I don't know why the heck I haven't ever singned up for this chapter. I am still in college at Miles City but grew up in Roberts (which is close to Red Lodge) and that's where part of our ranch is, the bigger part is over by the Pryor mountains. 5 of my buddies (one is a cousin and good friend) have a house now in Billings that I will move into once school is done this spring (good luck getting much sleep with 6 20 to 21 year old guys that like to party!). Just thought I would chime in.
