Leaking water pump gasket

Has anyone had problems with leaking water pump gaskets? I have been smelling anti-freeze for about a month and could not find the source. I finally located a seep at the waterpump gasket, an easy fix but just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? I have also developed the dreaded door crack behind the window on the driver side. Problems at 65,000 miles? Alittle too soon for me. Anybody had any luck getting Ford to fix the door after base warrenty goes out?

No it is a 2000. It is an external leak. I hope that the front cover and intake gasket problems actually were cured by the 2000 model year. I have to say that these problems are on my mind though.

Have you used a flashlight to look around the t-stat neck? There are a few hoses there plus the coolant sending unit and the coolant temperature sensor.Any of those could be leaking down onto the water pump. Also, the weep hole on the top of the water pump could be leaking, indicating a new pump is in order.

I am pretty sure the water pump gasket is at fault. Weep hole is dry, everything on top of the water pump is dry. The leak seems to originate at the bottom right corner of the water pump gasket. Kind of strange. I tried tightening the water pump bolts which slowed the leak but did not stop it. It is just a seep, never leaves a puddle under the truck. I guess I will just get a new pump, might as well install a new one if I have to remove it to get to the gasket.

I'd not look for a bigger problem than what it appears to be.
I doubt you are having the problems that were common in the early 4.2 motors.
If it looks like a leaking water pump gasket, and acts like a leaking water pump gasket, I'll bet ......
