Just Changed Tranfer Case Fluid

My truck has 93k miles on it. I had already changed the tranmission fluid. I just now got around to changing the transfer case fluid, this weekend. It was really nasty. I was surprised that it was in such bad shape.

the fulid in my x-fer case was toast(burnt up) at about 35,000 miles. at that point the truck had been in 4 wheel drive about 6 times for under 50 miles(once was in a snow storm that we got 2 feet of snow and i was having a little fun). when i changed it i put in synthetic and it has been ok so far(53,000 miles now)

Thats scary that it burns up so fast, guess i'll be putting synthetic in my sooner then planned.

My rear gearbox was the same way. I changed it a couple weekends ago and the stuff that came out was brown and nasty. I can only imagine what my t-case and front diff look like
