Spark Plugs in a 97 Explorer XLT
I had the wires changed in my truck and have a hunch that the wires are not connected to their original locations. The guy that changed them was not playing with a full deck.... If they were cross connected would the vehicle start? Second...what if most of them were connected properly and two were not....would it then start?
I am trying to find a map that will tell me which wire goes to which part on the harness.
Basically from the passenger side.....front plug to which socked on cap.......middle plug to which socket....and last plug to which socket?
I am sure you guys are quite busy but please try and help me out.
This is my first SUV and First FORD....I am a TAD bit nervous.

I had a friend who had an old ford pickup and he had his wires on wrong, and it still ran, but it backfired terrible. As far as wire routing, in your owners manual or under the hood there should be some identifications of the plug positions. I think you have the 4.0 but do you have the dual overhead cam version or the original 4.0?

Well I have a book for the 91-95 explorer, the firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6.
If you stand at the front of the truck , on the left is 1, then 2 then 3,
on the right is 4, 5 then 6 (cylinders).
Now on the ignition module, it seems 1,2.and 3 are also front to back, but my book specs the right side of the ignition module as 5 in front, 6 in middle and 4 in back.
Hope that helps.
Lets see if I can draw this:
Cylinders:
3 6
2 5
1 4
Front & Fan
then: Ignition Module
3 4
2 6
1 5
front again
Just hookup 1 to 1, etc all the way to 6 to 6.
