Question '99 Explorer idle trouble

Just wanted to check if the problem I am having with my '99 explorer 4.0 sohc sounds like a TPS problem or not. On occasion when first starting , will not idle and dies. Will run if gas is given. Seems to go away after vehicle is run for a while. Runs absolutely fine besides wanting to die seemingly due to idle control. I suspect the TPS, but have never had this trouble on a Ford before and wanted to see what you might think. Thanks

Check out the "IAC repair help" sticky at the top of the forum.

I had the same problem last week with the same engine, I disconnected the MAP sensor plug on the drivers side of the engine for about one minute while maintaining 2000 RPM after the engine was warm and the problem went away.
I don't know why but it worked...so far.
Good Luck

Thumbs up Thanks

Thanks for the info on the IAC. I tried to find one at the parts stores with no luck and the dealer wanted $80. I was able to find a new one on e-bay and it cost me less than $5 shipped , put it on and no more troubles. Thanks again.

With deals like that i'm almost tempted to get rid of this web-tv & get a real computer so that i could buy stuff on E-bay. Congrats on the fix.
