Overdrive off lite blinking......HELP
My wife was driving our 95 explorer automaticw/ 4.0 liter and light on dash (overdrive off) started to blink and I cannot turn it off w/ button on gear selector and it will not shift into the high gear , need help ASAP any thoughts????

This seems to happen fairly frequently on the 95s. Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, to clear the codes. At that point the light will be out. If it comes back on, you need to get the codes pulled to further diagnose the problem. Also, when the light is blinking, the trans is in 'cripple' mode which means it will shift very hard. Therefore, it's not good to drive it any great distances in that mode.

I am having a very similar problem only mine wont shift from first to second, I hooked to a diagnostic scanner but could not pull any codes for it. I have taken the trans oil pan off and using a ohm meter testing the shift seleniods(6 of them) I have found 2 that are reading diiferant than the rest 4 of them ohm at 29ohms 1 at 11ohms and 1 at 004 ohms. I dont have a scematic to show me which one is what or what the specs are on them, I suspect the one with 004ohms is probally the culprit not dure about the other low reading though, can some body help with the specs PLEASE!!!!!
