Which mod would be the better deal, a MAC 75mm throttle body or an electric fan from flex-a-lite? I have a 2000 f-150 rwd 5spd with flowmaster & a typhoon air intake
from what i hear the therottle body dont work all that great unless you get a new MAF to go with it. i would get the E-fans and take the stock one off and clean it really good for now. unless you can get the MAF along with the therottle body.
by MAF you mean like the ones made by Granatelli that are $300...something dollars?
Also about the E-fans, I don't know much about them, what brands are good & how much do the cost & are they hard to install( a-do-it-yourself-thing)?
flex-a-lite are good fans as far as install i have not done one but from what i hear they are easy to install. i know alot of guys that have installed alot of them.
The MAF is pretty large on the trucks. Not like the 55mm on the old 5.0 Stangs. A larger TB will gain a little airflow over the stocker. The Electric fan will gain a little power by reducing a little drag but you get more drag from the alternator to run the fan so you don't gain much. The clutch releases at highway speeds anyway and above about 2000rpm, so it doesn't really cost much in the way of power and will cool better than an electric fan.
