gear or engine swap
I've got a '90 f250 HD 4x4 supercab with 3.55 gears and a 351. Since a new truck is not in the picture yet, and I need something that can tow 5-8K regularly, I an debating on which will give me the umph that I need; either swapping in some 4.10s or stepping up to a 460. I also plow in the winter. As of now, I'm thinking the gears, and the engine later if money allows. BTW, it has 104K miles on it, witht he E4OD rebuilt last Nov. I've already sunk money into the truck, and besides the lack of power, I'm happy, or at least accustomed to it. I don't really want to get another truck because I know this one, and it's paid off. I appreciate the advice. Thanks.

I'd swap the gears out for 3.73 or 4.10s, you don't want to go much taller that that or you can risk blowing the motor at highway speeds. The gear change should give you a lot more take off, but less top end, and worse fuel economy.
