Leather seat colors for 2005 F-150

My issue with the 2004 F-150 Lariat is the so called "tan" leather seats are closer to white in color than tan. I currently have a 1997 (bought new) with tan leather. The 2004 is not even close to being tan. I'm afraid the white leather will look bad in a short time. Does anyone know if the 2005 leather seats color will change? By the way, I've talked to several dealers who agree that the 2004 leather color has been a problem for them.
Thanks in advance for any information...

If You Look On The Ford Website, You Can Find Pictures Of The 2005 F 150 Ranch King And The Leather In It Is A Darker Tan Leather. I Was Going To Buy A Lariat Supercrew With Tan Leather Until I Saw The Ranch King And Its Darker Leather. So I'm Waiting Until The 2005 Trucks Come Out.

That dark tan on the King ranch is only on the king ranch. I wish we could order that interior. I was afraid to order one because it is probably 4 thousand more dollars for that addition. I didnt think the badges and look inside was worth 4 grand.

it appears that the leather on the King Ranch is of higher quality, I have med flint grey leathe on my FX4 and I am very disapointed in the quality of the material, it seams to be basicaly vinyl interior, I can't tell if it is real leather... that said, I do like the leather better that cloth, just not as much as the BMW I was looking to by..

The KR leather is absolutely amazing. The quality & feel are unmatchable with any standard car leather. I was waiting for the 05 KR but I got a really good deal on an 04 Lariat I went ahead and got the Lariat. No regrets but the leather is oh so sweet.

I decided against the KR because:

A. They are a ton of hand work to keep conditioned.
B. The leather isn't sealed like standard car leather and will soak up liquids fast.
C. I have 2 young kids and A & B don't work well with C.

King Ranch is saddle leather right? Very nice, but not supple like the leathers in luxury cars.

I think the leather in the Lariat is comparable to leather in virtually every other car -- you may prefer the Volkswagen/Audi leather over Toyota/Lexus but they're both quality. The Lariat is more like a Toyota/Lexus/Honda/Acura type of leather.

As far as the tan leather goes -- don't get it. Get the black instead. It's offered this year and probably next and it looks a lot better than the tan and should hold up better over time. Did your dealer not tell you about the black leather that's available on Lariats?

The KR leather is a lot better feeling IMO. Only problem is once a stain gets into, its next to impossible to get it out.

The King Ranch leather is THE most supple leather I've ever felt in a vehicle, and I'll put it up against ANY luxury car in the world for quality! Besides, the ENTIRE seat in the KR is leather: back, sides, everywhere- not like the "leather seating surfaces" you get with everything else. But: it is impractical with kids, that's for sure.

Glad you like the King Ranch leather. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. My only question is, what do you think supple means? I really like the King Ranch saddle leather, but it isn't perfect or the best (in my opinion) for a vehicle.

Now, if the entire seat is leather, that puts the King Ranch in the category of the high end Mercedes and Rolls Royce's of the world since virtually no one else does it, including all the Japanese luxury brands and most of the German's except for the really high end models of the luxury brands.

Smile Thank you for everyone's reply!

Thank you all for all the good information. Yes, I knew about the black leather option, but with 110 degree summers here, I'd rather not go that route.

I was wondering about the King Ranch. The photos I've seen really look impressive. However, I have three questions/concerns about the KR:
  1. Is the King Ranch a model like the Lariat? I really like the Lariat options.
  2. Does the leather in the KR turn dark like a baseball glove or saddle overtime?
  3. Is the KR available in more exterior colors than just the copper?
I apologizes for being off topic to my original thread and will end my KR questions here.

KR Leather isn't really saddle leather, if you mean feels like saddle leather. It is soft, plush....absolutely amazing (can you tell I love this stuff). It is on par with Roles Royces etc. Full coverage, including steering wheels, etc.

Danr,

1.Is the King Ranch a model like the Lariat? I really like the Lariat options.

Yes. It is a lariat upgraded with the leather, power folding side mirrors with puddle lights, and a few other minor things.

2. Does the leather in the KR turn dark like a baseball glove or saddle overtime?
If it isn't cared for constantly it can get pretty bad looking. You need to commit to this leather if you get it.

3. Is the KR available in more exterior colors than just the copper?

It has been in the past.

Unless you're a dirty bird, the 'tan' leather seats won't get dirty/wore out too soon. I've been in and out, in and out of mine for the last 11K miles and they still look new. All I do is wipe them down every few weeks...maybe use a little leather conditioner at the same time...and they look great. Not the kind of seat you want for dirty work though I love this look, personally. I think it's very classy and sets the truck apart from the competition. The seats are beautiful!
