I have a 73 F100 that had a 390/4 speed / 3:00 gears. My 4 speed was a new process grand ma. It was ok. I think the Borg warner T19 Acase would have worked better. That top loader is an option, how ever you will have a hard time finding a shifter and the top loader is a very expensive transmision and hard to find. That C6 would probably be the best choice unless you just have to have a standard. If the standard is mandatory, go for the T19. It's a big tranny like a grand ma, but the 1st gear is synchronized and higher than grand ma. If you get the B/W make sure to get the "A" case. The others have regular grand ma gears.
