Donnie, the doctor is here tonight, he said, "i had to check the valve clearance on the #5&7 cylinders due to a horrendous knocking. sounded like a "midget with a sledge hammer trying to get out," and all seemed to be well. found out that it was nothing but a lifter that had lost pressure and was causing a bad valve rattle. in test driving the truck, we also discovered that it was in dire need of a high volume oil pump and larger pan to keep valve float from occurring at high rpm. this being said the motor for the beast is coming together in the form of a nasty 545ci big block. bore is going to be 4.390in which as everyone knows is only a .030 overbore on factory. the stroke is going to be 4.500in which is a full 1/2in over stock. rod and main journals will remain the same size, but the rods will have to be "H" beam form to make them as strong as possible in size 6.700in to make up for the longer stroke. Pistons are forged ross parts with a small dish. Edelbrock performer rpm heads with a 95cc combustion chamber will leave me with a compression ratio of 10.5:1. With all the parts that i am figuring, this motor will push around 550hp, and around 650ft/lb torque on pump gas. all of this on top of the 150 shot of NOS this should make for one wild ride. dont feel like getting into cam specs and flow charts on the heads right now, considering the heads are ported above out of the box specs, but feel free to call me or email me to get more details. The doctor is always on call for emergency calls, and last minute have to get done surgeries. all requests for service should be presented in writing, and most major insurance is accepted. You know how to contact me in need of assistance, and house calls."

Well, it's about time we revived this thread!
Wife and I ate @ Blowin' Smoke in Savannah a couple of weeks ago. Pulled pork was good, as was the beef brisket. Hometown fav is still Sconyers.
Oh, had lunch @ Shealy's over in Carolina last week-good buffet.
