Question thinking of swapping 302

i have 1962 ford pickup with 302,4 barrell holley,motor runs good,but it wont even break the tires loose,it has 3 speed auto.,i think it has 2 something high gears,and 235 tires on front and 275 on the back I am willing to spend 1500 to have some fun

drop the gears way down, that will do it.

Question on the 302

what all can i do to the 302 to make it run great and keep dependability vs swapping a 351?

Port the heads and turn the pistons around, sort of a cheap SOB version of building a stroker. Could put you around 375 HP...

i have been building motor for a long time now i have NEVER HEARD OF TURNING THE PISTON'A AROUND..your piston is the same all the way around..... 8.5 ,9.5 10.5 ....so what does turning the piston around do?

The piston pin bore on a 302 is offset, intake to exhaust sides. Spinning the piston 180 degrees (so the notch faces the rear) will give it a different stroke geometry, and is good for 15-30 hp's.
