Potential misfire in 97 4.6 F150

I've got a 97 F150 4.6 with a CEL of insufficient flow to EGR valve. I have changed the EGR valve and the DPFE sensor. It idles fine, no detectable miss. It developes a miss at speeds above 30 mph, or when the throttle is used aggressively. There is a popping noise out of the exhaust. I need to have the exhaust replaced as it is leaking at the mufflers. I am wondering if the lack of exhaust pressure can cause the insufficient EGR flow. I read the threads about the coil packs, and that sounds like the next step, although the code scanners at autozone did not pick up any misfires when used. The truck has 87K on it, and I replace the plugs and wires at 67K. I had the code for the EGR flow for a while before the engine started missing. I have a lot more options for repair than I have money. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like the EGR passages are clogged in the intake. Remove the throttlebody and check the passages for carbon build-up.

I found a leak in the vacuum line to the egr valve, fixed it, disconnected the battery to clear the cel and have driven it without the CEL coming back on. I bought a new coil pack at the store and put it on the passenger side. Still has miss. Put the CP I took off of passenger side on driver side. Still misses. I am going to put passenger side back on and move new CP to driver side. I do not expect a difference but am going to try. Thanks for your reply.
