A4LD Reverse Problem
89 Aero* 70k miles on drive train. Drove from Seattle to San Diego, on way down tranny overheated twice, fluid overflow. Not a problem after that. On the trip home about 3/4 of the way home, tranny started to jump in and out of OD a few times, later on stopped for gas, tried to put car in reverse, No luck. Drove back that way, all other gears wotk fine including first. When car sits for a few hours, then start up it will go in reverse, however, as soon as it warms up No reverse. I changed the trans fluid and filter, didnt find anything outside off some normal grime. Tightened the bands In accordance with the book, checked the vacuum modulator and it is still in tact. Does anyone have any Ideas? I dont think it needs overhaul, but I might be missing some thing that deals specificly with reverse, I was told that reverse and first were tied into the sane bands? but first works fine??? Hope some one has some input
