Can anyone tell me what the differences are in the modulators for the c-6 trans.
I see that there are basicly three different ones available, one with a purple stripe, one with a green stripe, and one with a black stripe. I am trying to up the shift point on my 88 f350 7.3l c-6 as it shifts first to second at about 7 to 10 and second to third at approx. 15 or so. I think it's kind of low.
Thanks in advance for your help..
Steve
You don't have to be concerned about the color stripe if all you want to do is change the shift points. Many aftermarket modulators are adjustable at the screw in the vacumn port. Screw it in to make the shift later and out to make the shift earlier. If your modulator is not adjustable you can change the pushrod behind the modulator. Install a longer rod for later shifts and shorter for earlier shifts. The rod is not made of any special material. If you can't find the rod kit use a piece of welding rod about the right diameter and grind or file the ends round.
