aftermarket power valve

ive got a 1977 1/2 f-250 4x4, with a 351m engine and a motorcraft 2150 2bbl carb. when i rebuilt the carb i found it had a different looking power valve in it then the one in the rebuild kit. i noticed while at the auto parts store that the holley power valves they sell separately look identical to the one that was in my truck. i dont know what rating this valve had so i didnt want to guess about a replacement and went with the one in the kit.
now ive got to replace the carb because the throttle shaft has just plum wore out. im wondering if anyone knows if a holley power valve in a motorcraft carb is a cool trick or if the guy who did this was a j*ck*ss.
if this is a good idea please tell me what value power valve to get.
i live in a hot climate(las vegas) and like to feel my truck pull me forward(a little heavy on the right pedal) if these matter.

thanks in advance for any help

On a basically stock engine, The standard replacement Powervalve will work fine.

Nope, they both do the same thing. The Holley ones come in many different sizes depending on engine vacuum due to larger camshafts and such, but they all function the same way.

thank you for replying. you have no idea (or maybe you do) how much what seems simple to one person can be utterly confusing to another. by the way, with a stock 351m, 2150 carb, in a 771/2 f250 4x4, what value should i go with? i've heard that 6.5 Hg is normal but i've also read threads on here about the stock valve not opening soon enough. what do you think?
