yes they use the same belhousing, and flywheel, as long as the 302 is an earlier 28oz counter balance which it should be with a C4

Yes you can make it work pretty easilly.I just finished that conversion and the only modification I did was made the wholes that the engine mounts go through on the engine perches a little bigger because they seemed to be off by a 1/2 inch or less.I made the wholes bigger and used some big flat washers.35,000km on the truck now with no problems.I even used the 351c 4bbl exhust manifolds.Had to notch a hair off the frame rail on the passenger side because it would rub on the manifold torqed up in reverse.Everybody told me the same thing, that it wouldn't work but it went pretty good.Total modification time on the mount perches and frame rail....15 minutes.Go for it.My truck is a 78 f-150 4x4.and I would never go back to the m engine.Clevelands are lots more fun ,and I'm even getting fairly good milage.(13-15 mpg.355 gears 33 inch tires.

hey 78 short, you are the second person I noticed say they had that problem but I did that conversion using a small block c6, and motor mounts from an 86 f150 with a 302, and they dropped right in, maybe I did something wrong., Mine is in a 77 F150 frame that had a 351m with a 4spd.

I used a tranny out of a 81 f250 hd plow king 4x4.I was told that ford uses a short c-6 version in the old trucks with a np203 case and in the 80 81 and 82 ford 4x4's not shure if thats f-150 or 250 or both............77 frame is diffrent from a 78 79.Look what your driving battered bronco.....how can you even compare problems.Your talking about a completely diffrent chasis. It's all new stuff.

Well I said 77 but it was titled as a 78, I think it is one of the77-1/2, but one thing I forgot about (well actually 21 things now), A. I run the np205 transfer case, but this transmission origanally had a np 208 behind it. B. Look at your transmission mount/perch, where it bolts onto the cross member the holes on the crossmember those holes are slotted allowing about 1-1/2in of adjustment more than enough to take up the difference in the motor mount holes, I almost forgot about that because I had loosened them up because I thought I needed to change the perch but found out they were the same for both transmissions.

an np208 is the alum chain drive transfer case used in 80, and newer fords, the trans origanally came from a 81 bronco with a 351w.
and with your mounts all the way back that seems weird I still have 1/2in I could go back, and this is the second time I did this swap without having to cut the motor mount perches (first time was a friends truck, and we hadn't even heard of doing that it just went together)

I idunno,Maybe if I tried to move everything back when I first did the cleveland install when it was still standard it would have worked, but I only moved everything back that last 1/2 inch when I went auto.Had to too fit the auto into the mount holes. Now the holes might line up perfect for the perches but it doesn't matter now.But I will remember that. Thanks for the correction.Where were you a year ago??
