Drove in a dodge today

Went on a mini road trip in a rented dodge neon. Was alright on get up and go, my truck would run it over from a stop though. the biggest thing i noticed was that it sounded inside like a skate board going down the road. I was shocked, guess im just spoiled by my 04 f150

I guess there is a reason that the trucks and SUV's cost more (Too much IMHO). We have a 2003 Focus and it has alot more road noise than our 2000 Expy, now my 86 F-150, that is another story.

I've noticed that, in general, the unit-body vehicles transmit more road noise to the occupants than most body-on-frame type vehicles do...

pobably because framed vehicles sit on rubber or urethane mounts, suspensions on UNIbody cars dont have that extra barrier. but, the Neon IS an economy car, so im sure Dodge didnt put alot of money into the suspension and sound deadening.

I think it depends on how well the car has been insulated. A friend of mine had a Honda Accord that he said was terribly loud on the freeway. He just bought a new Camry and says its super quiet on the road. I drove a Ford Taurus (company car) and it was pretty quiet. I never rode in my friend's Accord, so I can't compare the two. I think the small economy cars are typically louder, sedans quieter, and luxury cars nearly silent with that cool "gliding on air" feel.

amen to that!

I was one of those poor suckers that bought one of the first ones new...the car could sure scoot....too bad things were falling off of it.

In the first 20K I had already replaced the muffler hangers 2 times because the melted off and left the exhaust system on the ground!

Radiator at 30K.

Timing belt went at 45K.

Head gasket at 50K....dare I go on?

Trucks and cars are very nice when they're quiet. I've noticed that when I'm in my F-150 or my grandpa's Jeep Grand Cherokee that it's pretty well quiet. The only thing that I have a complaint about (not really a complaint, an observation) is that when an ambulance or police any thing with siren on it has to be on top of you before you can hear it.

That's my 2¢ worth.

Then get a radar detector that can detect oncoming emergency vehicles.
