Differential Change

Hi All

60K Miles...literature says to change the front differential. Manual says rear is synthetic and should only be changed if it was submerged and leaking. OK, so I guess I will go after the front but not clear as to what kind of gear oil do I use in the front. Neither Haynes nor Manual is very clear on what viscosity range to use. Read something else somewhere that says front should't be changed until 100K. Can anyone add clarity w/respect to change intervals, type/rating of gear oil???

Thanks

I'd change the rear and forget the front! My front fluid looked great and the back was black. Just remove the differential cover and clean it out. There will likely be metal particles in the bottom. Clean the gasket surfaces and use silicone to make the new gasket. You will need some method to pump in the new fluid till it overfills. Refilling is the worst part. The front can only be suctioned easily.
