Very easy, it's good carb. to learn on. Just get yourself a rebuild kit and a chilton or haynes manual which will have a diagram of all the parts of the carb and how they go together. Basically you disemble the carb put all the metal parts in the cleaning solution and when you put it all back together put the new gaskets that come with the kit in and just make sure to get the float adjusted within specs.
I don't have a carter. My carb is a Motorcraft. Are they one and the same? I need to know which carbs are the same because I plan on using 3 as per The Frenchman Flyer's homemade 3 1 barrel manifold.
They may say motorcraft on them but they are Carter yfa carbs not to hard to rebuild. Make sure and not lose the accelarator pump check ball and weight. Get the float level right and adjust the metering rod to specs. As I said they are not hard to rebuild but I find I get to do it a little oftener than I want to. The next time I have to on the truck it will get the Offey manifold and a two barrel carb.
Would a 64 240's 1 barrel be compatible in size and structure to my 80 carb and another 70s to 80s carb? I know this is insane but it's called budget crunch and just a lot of fun. I'm betting with even flow done cheap this truck will still have some good power and torque.
They should all flow about the same but might use different linkage and have some different hook up which might be a pain in making linkage to control all of them in synchronization. I know your on a budget but you should really condiser an Offenhauser or Clifford intake with a 2bbl or 4bbl it's much easier and you will almost certainly get better results with power and gas mileage.
I tried this question in the carb forum but got no response. What is so different about the one barrel carter, EITE EA, that makes it cost $35 compared to most at a cost of around $12??
