Talking Turbo Rebuild

Just wanted to throw this out there for you guy if any of you are suspecting turbo problems, it seems to be a common problem...timsturbos . com He rebuilt mine with an upgraded ar housing for 400 bucks, shiny new and the truck runs great (until something else went out, not turbo related though...) Anyway, he sells fresh ones on ebay as well just search TP38. Email with any questions, I took mine out, overnighted it, he had it back the next day (3 days down total).

I have thought about this myself. Did you have any grief removing and reinstalling the turbo? I hate to mess something up.

Not really, the pedastal bolt under the exhaust side is a pain in the $$$, still have a little rub on the back side of my hand from taking it in and out, other that that it really wasn't that bad. Get a 1/4" flexible extension to make things easier, and the exhaust bolts require a little pry action again the firewall, believe it or not the factory lug wrench under my hood was perfect to pry against the 15mm socket. Most the fittings are metric as well. Also, make sure you set the thing down when re-installing it on the o-rings, try not to slide it, some grease or a little rtv works well to hold them in place (rtv'd second try, didn't want to have a third). No leaks though and the truck really ran great until it decided to die on me (not turbo related) but with my chip (had it reburned for turbo) and 4" straight pipe and intake it'll smoke the 305's off...Tim will give you a call before he starts anything to let you know if you need anything else, he's a good guy, I called him about a dozen times with ?'s, do it if you think it's heading south, a rebuild is like 400 but if you actually blow it up it is more like 600-750 and that's if you don't do anything to your engine itself.
