44, school teacher... Mostly stock 56, 302 and a C-4. I like the look and feel of the stock stuff, I do like the 302 and automatic, as its my driver to work. I am thinking about ditching the shiny wheels, stock black rims and hubcaps, if I had bucks to spend (I dont, teacher with a wife and kid ) I'd think about American 5 spokes...
I'll be 41 next week!! I got my first effie when I was 15 it was a red 56' [my she rest in peace] It was and always will be my first love. Oh well I got me a red 54 now that I just picked up a few weeks ago, funny how my wife just can't see all that potential sitting there in the driveway!! I to am like John, I work in a steel mill and have seen pay cuts,lay-offs, lose of a ton of benefits and hung on through the company filing chapter 11. But ya hang in there and keep on diggin!! The 54' will shake rattle and roar again sometime!!!
Had my inagural road trip this weekend to the "Right Coast" Nationals in Syracuse. It was a great shake down for the truck which has been 8 years in teh building and counting since there is still lots to do to be complete!
58, and how do I celebrate my old fart status? By buying back a 55 pickup I sold 5 years ago (named Mutt) and working to improve it some. Love my 55 panel though.
The funny thing about being older is that you feel the same as younger most the time, but just go to bed earlier. I always say it's kind of like a auto battery...can't tell the difference between a brand new one and a 5 year old one most of the time, except... in extreme conditons, like dead of winter, you might need a boost. Then, one day, the battery won't turn it over anymore.
Maybe we should translate our ages into "battery years". How long does an average battery last? 5? 7? years? You guys figure that out.
Divide that into average life span for battery years, kind of like dog years. Sounds more apt to this forum than real age years!
Regards, Paul G.
About 10 battery years old, I think.
I'll be 53 in sept.
Painted my gandmothers house in '68, trade for the "old" '51 F1. We were both 17 but I was way to cool to drive that "old" truck so I swapped it & some cash for a really cool '64 chevelle. Oh well. My sweet wife gave me the '54 as a early 50th bday at 48,
said she was tired of hearing me talk about that "old" truck I used to have, course it was up to me to make it go. It still needs years of tlc but I don't think this one will ever get away.
will be 41 in nov.,but still act like i am 15,most of the time.my wife and my sister inlaw get tired of me getting the kid's all fired up and running around.it's good to feel young as long as possiable, and still play with truck's.
I don't know what makes you think that! Most of us "geezers" are still working on ours! You don't think we've been just sittin' on our hands all these years do you? One thing both the young and the "geezers" know...the truck is NEVER finished...
Vern
Vern, You are right these trucks are never finished, What fun would that be.
I'm 30 and I still have not grown out of that in the weeds look. My build plans will be far from stock but definatly nothing radical. Shooting for a clean, bagged, streetable truck with all the creature comforts.
