Best diesel rated oil?
Ok, so I've been going on and on and on about the advantages of diesel rated oils for some time now. So the question must come up; What is the best diesel oil manufacuturer? I'm not getting into synthetic vs dino here, that's been rehashed over and over. Just pick one.
Message to admin: Please feel free to add whatever additional companies you want. The more options the better.
When you vote, state your reason why below. It could be as simple as because dad uses it, or as complex as it has a higher TBN or higher VI or more additives or whatever. Just dont turn it into a mudslinging contest.
Oh yeah, my pick was Mystik. I've got a good UOA back, with more data on the way.

i just started putting rotella 15w40 in my 300 and was amazed. it runs much smoother now and all the strange noises are gone. i also noticed more power. it used to struggle when i would take off in second on a rollong stop (stupid 2.73 gears), but now it does it w/no problem. this is only for the summer. for the winter i'm going to use a thinner oil, but stick w/rotella.

Rotella T would seem to have a more extended usage on the highway. Seems to also have the most historyt to back up its claims. What makes me think that...its users are its biggest advertisers. I like Delo's group II base. As far as the additives go.......I wouldnt bet on one over the other when it comes to Rotella T, Delvac, or Delo 400. Each has the same claims and the same devoted users from the guy next door to the shipping giant driving millions of miles a year.
There are things in this world I've never heard someone say......."I run Amziol in my big rig" is one I've never heard.
My gasser truck......Rotella T. I think Delo 400 might also be in its future.

15W40 would be too thick to run in the winter in my 300, wouldn't it? I'd like to change over to it, but I'm not going to pay for new oil now with another 2 months of hot weather left. Not particularly worth it. Are there any lower grades, or am I just going to have to wait till next spring?

Try your local farm/fleet store for Mysik JT-8. They make a 10w-30 CI-4 diesel oil. Tractor Supply sells it around here.

I have used Rotella 10w30. There is only one store within 50 miles of me that sells it rotella 10w30. I can get 10w30 if I want at fleet farm (mystic). I am in Rotella country; it is sold everywhere around here. Can't hardly find Delo anywhere. Mobil Delvac 1300 or Mystic are the other options that can be found pretty easily.
I really don't know which is best. I know if one company that uses Rotella and has very long life on their equipment and trucks. They use it in their 1 tons with 460's and they last hundreds of thousands of miles.
The company I work for uses Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15w40 in all the heavy equipment. We don't have any premature engine problems. Equipment (Dozers, Excavators, Off road Trucks etc.) usually last 10-13k hours before rebuild and trucks (dump trucks, dusty dirty conditions) usually last 700 - 900+K miles before rebuild. We have all types of equipment, Cat, John Deere/Hitachi, Komastu, and Mack Trucks. The Macks really get used - short trips with hard locations to dump at. The Mobil does what we need of it and the cheap bulk price we get for it by the tanker, is good also. Our shop manager says all oils are the same. Go with what has a good sales team, service and proven track record.
