For those contemplating buying a new Ford F-150 I can tell you my experience has been excellent. Don't pay attention to the naysayers. There is no manufacturer anywhere that can produce a mechanical creation that doesn't need some refinement. In February of 2004 I purchased a Ford Lariat Supercrew 2WD (18 inch wheels) with a 3.55 rear axle (Limited Slip). I currently have over 7,000 miles and the truck is really impressive. The ride at all speeds is reallysmooth . When you engage the cruise control it holds the speed precisely. The unbelievably strong chassis and 18 inch wheels makes going over rough roads a breeze. I got on my floor creeper the other day and took a look at the chassis. No wonder the truck is so solid. The frame is massive! If your'e considering buying a Ford truck I don't think you'll go wrong if you take a good test drive first. The Supercrew with 18 inch wheels is the way to go. The 3.55 limited slip rear axle gets a half mile per gallon better mileage than the 3.73 which adds up to 15 extra miles per tank full Shoot I'll take it. Oh by the way the audiophile option is awesome . It has a seperate power amp and subwoofer mounted underneath the rear seat and it rally cranks out the music and big bass. Also you have to get the reverse sensing. It is invaluble when backing this truck up. Good Luck
I can't wait myself! Mine has been on order for 2 1/2 months!!!! 2004 Lariat SCAB, 133" wheelbase, black leather center console, audiophile, 3.55 LS diff, tow package, power slider rear window, reverse sensing, toreador red with arizona beige two tone. I already have Bridgestone Dueler HPs 285/60/18 to put on it once it gets here!!! Will also install Flowmaster 50 series SI/DO exhaust as well. It's been a long time waiting. Supposed to be built 7/19, we'll see!!!
Ordered it May 2nd. My guess is since it is a SCAB with the 5 1/2' bed, Ford is only running them at certain times. Most of the SCABs are 6 1/2 or 8 ft beds, just a guess.
Hey guys, I'm in the same boat but......I talked to my salesman yesterday and he said that my truck is being built this week. I ordered my truck on the 20th of May, the manufacturer didn't receive and approve until the 26th. My truck: Lariat Scab 133" Black on Black loaded to the hilt. he told me that my truck has a buck (buk, buc however it's spelt) number and when the dealerships see that, they know that the trucks they ordered are being built that week. he also gave me a ETA of 2 Aug. I don't know how they work this but I would've imagined yours would be built before mine. He also told me that my order was transfered from one plant to another to be built. maybe that had something to do with it.
I have 6000 on my 04 Screw XLT. I have not had a better truck in my life. Of course there are moments that it rides like a truck, like on washboard surfaces, but it is a rigid frame and not really any more bouncy than any other truck i've had in the past. I called the VOPC (vehicle order processing center) and if you give them the VIN or purchase order # they can give you the build date and exactly where the status stands of your truck. Unfortunately, I dont have the number to the VOPC anymore. Great trucks!
boy, it's nice to see some positive statements about these trucks. 9000 miles and no complaints or regrets. never driven any truck that on one hand feels so heavy and solid yet drives and handles so smoothly. if i sound like i'm kissing butt it's because i hate to see all the little things people complain about. i know some of you are having real problems and i feel bad for you. your big problems make some of these little things really sound petty.
A Truck Is a TRUCK , Its always gona be a Rough vehicle , Whith All The improvments over the YEARS its a big pl++++ . My 2004 4by2 Lariet 5.4 , 3.73 rearend Rides like a cadi compared to my last , lost freind 1992 XLT 302 eng. We went through a lot together ,I hope this is just as reliable . even though it has all this COMFORT
Hang in there guys, i ordered mine on may 3rd and just picked it up on the 7th. All i can say is it is awesome. there is no engine noise like some say, no steering wheel nibble unless i drive over rough roads. I belive the truck is much tighter and stiffer than previous years thats why you get a little feedback thru the wheel on rough terrain but on smooth roads it rides like a lincoln. I have just reached 500 miles and the only complaint is i have the rearend whine from 68 to 71, its minor but there. Overall i think you guys will love these trucks. Great step up from my 99.
