My mom has a new Explorer Sport with a gray painted rear bumper.I want to get touchup paint but the dealer can't find the paint code.The bumper paint looks like dark gray primer but the paint is the top coat.Any help would be great.Joe

 

All paint codes are on the driver's door, or inside the driver's door post. Ford paint codes are either 2 letters, or 1 number and 1 letter. The codes are right above the words "EXTERIOR PAINT COLORS". Two-tone vehicles have 2 paint codes side by side.

 

I checked for the second code on my door panel, as I need my bumper touched up as well. It says "41". Not sure if that sounds right though.

 

I have a 98 sport with a painted bumper as well. Though I haven't ordered the paint yet, I figured out how to get it. There is no code for the bumper and they can't just order it. But I have a 98 X brochure that says the color that was used on the bumper. Well, I looked at the colors used on the body and that same color was a choice. So I'll just order touch up paint like my X is that color and it should match the bumper fine.

Unfortunately, the 01 and up X sports have a non-shiny rear bumper so I don't think the same thing can be done. I would ask the dealer. If not, try autozone.
