help:need to covert BMP to JPEG

help:need to covert BMP to JPEG

i'm finally trying to get my gallery going and i already screwed up. the gallery needs JPEG files and i only have BMP files. can anyone reccomend a free download off the web to convert these files. i'm running Windows 2K pro.

All you have to do is go into Paint open the picture, click "Save as" and under "Save as type:" select JPEG File Interchange Format.

Yep - I had the same problem when I went to do my gallery. I finally figured out the same thing about using Paint to do it! Good luck!

or you can go to www.jasc.com and download their "trial" of Paint Shop Pro (it says it's only 30 days, but it really goes for something more like 6 months). It's a great tool for 2D work and converts things effeciently (a word M$ hasn't heard of).
Mostly only good if you want to work with a lot of formats and want to do some editing...

Well, the trick using "paint" didn't work for me! i'm downloading the trial of paint shop pro. i'll let y'all know how it worked. thanks.

not sure. i opened the BMP file and tried to save as JPG but it didn't offer a JPEG extension. i got the other software to work. thanks for the help.

I downloaded "wavel pic2pic" as a trial. It is still going 2 years later! hahaha!
