Mobil 1 CI4-CF4?
Everywhere I've looked.....I have yet to find an answer....
Mobil 1 SUV/Truck (Delvac1) is listed CI4/CH4/CG4/CF4
All other Mobil 1 are also listed with SuperSyn anti-wear additives......but it doesnt have them listed. Nor does it have listed in the product info to qualify to CI4/CH4/CG4/CF4 standards.
Does mobil 1 not contain the additives needed?

My wifes 2004 Kia Rio w/ 1.6 liter DOHC. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=248685
Its really academic at this point. I am unable to locate delo 10w30 in anything smaller than drums. So I went ahead and did the Mobil 1 thing. I used the Drive Clean in her last car. but I wanna step it up a bit for this car.
My next question after the anti-wear thing....................what makes the difference between Mobil 1 10w30 and Mobil 1 0w30? Pour points are both -65. 10w30 VI is 147 and the 0w30 VI is 175. Why make two products? Is there a upper hand from one to the other.
Yea, I need a hobby.

The difference between a 0W and 10W is the Cold Cranking Simulator test temperature, not the pour point. With a lower VI, the 10W-30 product may not have any polymer additive at all (a good thing).
In answer to your first post, "SuperSyn" is the name for an ExxonMobil PAO base oil, not the additive package, but the marketing people make it sound like an additive.
There is too much ZDDP and no FM's in the CI-4 oil to qualify for the GF-3, "energy conserving" and "for gasoline engines" ratings for the mass market formulas.

Am I wrong here in thinking the higher the VI the better?
Shouldnt an oil with more supporting data be more attractive?
Am I wrong here in thinking Chevrons Synthetic looks more appealing?

The CI-4 rating means it has more detergent/dispersant, higher TBN, more ZDDP which prevents wear, more anti-foaming additive, and no friction modifiers. This all adds up to a very robust oil that should prevent wear very well. All that, and in a 5w40 grade to provide for good cold starts and thicker hot viscosity for better engine protection. Plus it's synthetic. (for what that's worth...) IMHO this is probably one of the better oils available. If you can afford it, this is the one to get.

An update on my oil for the KIA. I cant keep the damn thing out of the shop long enough to worry about the oil. I'm just about to sell out KIA on this Forum of 207,000+ registered users. I figure the rule of ten applies. Tell 1 person, that person tells 10 others. By my ignorant math.......more than 2 million people will get the message of my service problems with KIA.
They will be unhappy tomorrow morning. I have fended my wife off from the dealership. Today.....I gave my wife permission to unload on the whole dealership tomorrow morning. I made my first payment yesterday.....I made my 6th visit to the dealership today, and the car is still there.
Cant get the mass airflow sensor and the computer to play nice.

WHY.......HYUNDAI maybe but only after a few ALES. but not KIA,or DAEWOO...What your RIO has is a common problem they normally reprogram the ECR Sensor if that does not cure the problem they replace the Mass air flow sensor it goes well for a couple of weeks. Then the problem starts all over again.Good Luck.....
