Post '97 Explorer, heater thermostat dial not working

Subject pretty much covers it. The adjustment **** turns as usual but makes no differance; it continues to make hot air when I'd prefer it not. The heat guage reads in the normal range and there's no evidence that the vehicle is running hot. I guess I'm asking if the linkage may be disconected and how to determine exactly where to look?

This may be a blend door problem. Check for past posts on this problem.

I think(?) I understand what you mean by 'blend door' but I don't know how to access whatever archives may exist. Sorry, I still need help.

At the top of the main page for the Explorer Forum, click search. Type in Blend Door and press enter. Any posts that contain those words from this forum will come up on the screen. Hope this helps

except I'm stuck on AC and can't get heat. Winter is coming and not looking forward to the 10 hour job pulling the dash apart just to fix a little plastic part.

Well I've accessd the archives and it looks like the cure is almost as bad as the disease. I may try removing the glove box to see what can be done or just bite the bullet and bring it to Ford.
Anyway thanks for the diagnostic assist.
