anyone that knows us knows that we take very good care of all of our vehicles. this motorhome going 7,000 without the oil change is not a common thing. We are not youngsters...just regular work you rear off mid 40s people trying to get through life. Mr. mrcobrajet, how dare you say that we spend more time at the racetrack than taking care of our vehicles! Don't insult my intelligence and act like you haven't heard that there have been problems with the Ford F150s! It was spark plug coils...oh what a surprise! People callmy husband,Mr. clean. Our motorhome still looks a smells new! anyone that looked at it could tell that it wasn't neglected! We DID use a motocraft oil filter and Penzoil 10w30. Thanks for the encougement from most of you. It is hard to keep your spirit up when you fight this everyday! Like I said before, I came to this forum to gain knowledge and hopefully get some support. I also know that there was a "silent" recall on the 2003 V10s. How is that honest? and now it is over. so if you didn't have a problem before May on it and you take it to a dealership, do they get messed around like us? I can't afford to give up! I have to fight!

Well, daimon1054, I went back to my owners manual and guess what ? Nothing in there about 10/100,000 on the drivetrain on gas motors. Called my Cruisenight buddy at Sanderson Ford Heavy Truck Service here in Glendale. The Powerstroke diesel comes with a standard 100,000 warranty but all Ford gas motors get 3/36 standard. Of course you can buy the extended warranty up to 7/72...Hopefully our victim will learn from their errant ways of deferred maintainence..

Unfortunately, this uncommon 'thing' cost you a motor apparently. I haven't kept up on this entire thread but I wonder where the line is drawn. I understand you, the consumer have a warranty and your vehicle is within the warranty period. However, I don't understand how you can reasonably expect the manufacturer to assume the cost when by their standards, the unit was neglected. I know that when Ford replaces a motor under warranty, eventhough it is with a remanufactured engine, they also give the same 3/36 on the replacement as well. There has to be some guideline regarding maintenance, otherwise, we would all have new motors every few thousand miles. All they stipulate is that you change the oil according to your service schedule, that they will repair, or replace in the event of mfg defects, etc. Not that they will replace no matter what within that time period.

Sorry, long winded I know. I just don't think you have a leg to stand on as far as having Ford pay for it. It wasn't anything they did, or should be responsible for. It is very unfortunate and I do feel bad for you. However, I believe that you bear the burden in this. All the acts you cite and emotion is fine but the fact remains, Ford did not drive the vehicle for 7,000 miles without an oil change and as far as they know, even an oil check. Best of luck to you.

Give me a break. You stated that you used 5W 20 in one of your post know it's 10W 30.(there is no way that I would use 5W20 in a motor home) I am sure by know that you have recieved the oil analysis, what did it say. My guess is oil failure, just how much oil was drained out of the sump??. I am not for FORD or any other of the Big 3, but lets be truthful here, what you do will cost use that take care of our trucks more in the future.
I have been using Ford trucks for RVing for 26 years, and I would never think of going 7K on a oil change I don't care how busy I was and I use Mobil 1 and a V10,so what is it did you get your oil checked or was it lost in the mail agian. a think that we are only getting of side of this story.
My 2 cents

Well, you must be special. 3/36 is the standard warranty issued on Ford Division gas vehicles. By the way, Daimon1054, could you please explain what :"you got fed" means! Sorry I don' live in Arkansas.

I have run an ambulance (2002 E350 7.3L Power Stroke) 10,000 miles between oil changes without any problems. The failure of the engine was probably going to happen reguardless of getting the oil changed. But that doesn't mean they will pay for it. They were given an out and are taking it.

Saying that we used Penzoil 10w20 was a typo. It was 10w30.

I JUST GOT THE OIL ANAYLSIS KIT. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT DOWN THE STEET, BUT 3 HOURS AWAY! I AM GOING TOMORROW! Why are you so eager to prove me guilty? Do you work for Ford too?

What year is your unit again and what oil weight does the owners manual stipulate? This has no bearing on guilt, or innocence, I am just curious to see what Ford asks for in that particular setup. I have an 03 truck and they indicate in their manual that they will void the warranty unless 5w20 is used. Just wondering why 5w30 would be okay in your V10 and not in mine. If in fact your manual does call for 5w30. Thanks.

I have been using the 5w20 as the manual states. I have been a little uneasy with it. Seems pretty thin in my opinion with heavy vehicles and towing etc. You might try posting to this site: http//www.bobistheoilguy.com go to forums, gasoline engines. They may be able to give some insight regarding the oil breakdown, dirty oil issue. I think the more opinions you gather at this point the better.
