Check engine light
I own a 92 F-150 V8. Thats about the most I know about the engine.
I'm pretty good with my hands. The check engine light comes on every so often usually after about 1/2 hr of driving. Anything that I could check for on my own with out taking it to a mechanic.

You can pull the codes to see what is stored. If you've never pulled the codes yourself before, head to http://fordfuelinjection.com and click on "Getting Codes." That should get you going on finding out what codes are there, then when you have the codes, they have a list that tells you what they mean. Feel free to post back here what you come up with.

Try going to a place like Auto Zone and they will read the codes for free. You can buy a tester and read them yourself or try www.broncodata.com/tech/codes.htm, and they have a way to test it. Good luck.

http://fordfuelinjection.com was pretty simple to set up for me all you do is run a wire. I used a wire from some 12/2 house wiring snugged itself nicely inside the ecu test plug then just count the blinks.
