A/C blowing warm air when stopped

When I stop an idle for a few minutes my A/C will stop blowing real warm air. When I start heading down the road again it will start blowing cool air again. One garage couldn't find anything wrong, another said their truck did it and it's a feature of the truck, that I just need to rev up the engine a little due to something with the clutch. Even doing this really doesn't work well at all. The truck is a 2002 F-150

Hello RamboC4 and Welcome to FTE! I've heard of others doing this and haven't heard of a fix for it.

Anyone else

There has to be more people with this problem, is it limited to this model year? Why does it do this? I drove our companies spare truck which is a 2001 F-150 and didn't notice it?

apparently fomoco doesn't really care or know how to make a great a/c unit. they seem to have to really huff & puff just to barely make a "good" unit even when new. that's the way my new one is, it'll be putting out hot air before too long, but then again, this story is nothing new.

My Uncle died, and I found 7 cans of R-12 in his garage. '90 F-150 blows cool all the time. R-134 is a joke!

Hey RamboC4, sounds like you may have a slight coolant leak, probably from a line valve, could be the seat ring in the line going to the evaporator. Warm up the truck and engage the A/C unit for a few minutes, then shut the truck down. Unscrew the seal caps one at a time and listen for any leakage. Sometimes these valve don't get seated properly and when the cap is put on it opens the valve ever so slightly, thus leaking the R-134.
R-134 is a joke, but if its fully charged it works. Hope this helps.

Have you driven a chevy? For the longest time the ac never engaged until you put it in drive and then drove it down the road. They also had numerous overheating problems from the small radiator they installed.

I own a 1997 f-150 lariet super cab long bed 4.6 v8

My truck just had this problem in 2003. Up to that year my a/c was ice cold now it get what is considered warm in a/c standards when at stop lights and stop signs. but on freeway and long streets ny a/c cools down too 38^ degrees. i had the freon changed in 2003 and 2004 and checked for leaks.. there are no leaks. i've heard and am not sure that a/c lines can have a filter in the line to keep debris from getting in to the radiator coller or something like that. if anyone else heard that let me and ramdo know thanks.
