Hey, I read an article in Four wheeler once about turning up the injection pump on the 7.3 ( non power stroke actually a 90' ) and I 'll be damned if I can find it now that I need it, can anyone help me, I have a ATS turbo kit on it and would like to turn up the rack settings for a little more fuel delivery. Thanks! Pete
DONT EVEN THINK that more is better. The ATS system is designed to handle so much fuel delivery using the turbo to cool the fire in the cylinders. If you are getting a light smoke while working the engine, you are good to go. You should have guages too to watch the heat developed by the fuel burn. Just make sure the governor will take of everything, when you loan the truck to your pal he will have the tendency to cook the heads of the pistons when you arent watching.
hey thanks for the tip but having had built and run many diesels, including heavy equipment diesels on dynometers, the most usable power comes from the right fuel and air mixture, (as with any internal combustion engine) with a turbo'd diesel, you will not get proper boost pressure if you dont have the injection pump up to spec's, or even above spec's, maybe I should have giving a lttle more info' in my first posting, what it is is that I swapped a diff' engine into my truck and the pump that is on this new engine is a "non" turbo motor, and let me tell you, I lost 50 or more horse with this pump.I didn't own the truck when this kit was installed but from the information I gathered ATS reccomends having the fuel system reworked to thier specs for optimum power. The pump I took out was pretty tired so I figured it would be simpler to crank up this one, so I guess I am still looking for some help here....
Thanks!
