Smile 91 E4OD swelling??

I have a 91 f-150 4X4 with a 5.8 and E4OD transmission. I put a longblock in it about 40k ago and have been running synthetic oil in it, and sampling when I change it. My last 2 samples have had high iron content and after talking to the engine company, they questioned what transmission it had and said that sometimes the torque converters swell and take the thrust washer out on the crank. Has anyone ever heard of this. At this point I belive it because I do not have any endplay in the crank while the engine is hot (have not yet checked it cold). I also recently put a high torque starter in it because it sometimes turns over very hard when it is hot. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks Chris

Try loosening the torque converter bolts from the flywheel and see if you can slide the torque converter away from the flywheel. Should be able to move it back 1/8 to 1/4 inch roughly.
