Check...and, check! Thank you! Yeah, 3.89s. If you have probs finding a correct rear end for your truck (drain holes were different for '57 - '60 each year) there are a few I know of, loafing around in Kansas. Of course, I won't be back there till mid August, but I'll check with you.

Creating a registry is an excellent idea Shane.
My 58 F-100 numbers are:
Vin...F10J8L13346
WB...110
Date...11 G
Trans...A
Axle...01
GVW...5000
Cert [email protected]

History: Prior to 1963 some "punk kid" removed the stock engine and put in a 1958 FE 352. It was then bought in 1963 by my Grandfather who used it on his cattle ranch every single day until 1987 when he died. After that my father took it and used it to drive around town. When I turned 14 we started rebuilding the mechanics of the truck and he gave it to me in 1998 when I turned 16. For the past 4 years she has driven me 60 miles a day to college with me only having to fix it on the side of the road twice.

Good Luck and I cant wait to see it posted!

Welcome to FTE!

Hey, don't sweat that '58 352! That's kool! You can kinda say your truck was hot rodded in the fifties! Be happy you didn't wind up with a rustbucket '60 like mine, with a '78 351M/Cruise-o-matic in it. That isn't kool no matter how you look at it.

I have since been given a 4 speed, and a complete-except-for-the-heads '58 y-block (by a kool member of this forum), so Daisy will be a period hot rod when she's done.

Update your gallery so we can laugh at you!

Wow, welcome to FTE!

Look here all you slackers - here's a new guy and right off the bat he supports the '57 - '60 Registry! He's #72 by the way.

Trust me, dog , this is the place to be as far as info for our trucks. You'll find lots of sources of help and parts here that seem, well...missing for the Forgotten Fords. Stick around and learn a thing or two!

And update your profile and gallery!

Thumbs up Sounds great!

Hey,

I haven't visited this site a lot, but I think I will be more. I ame currently restoring a 59 F100 styleside with a 292 V8 and a three on the tree trans with overdrive (shifted by a **** under the dash). It's currently white but I'd like to return it to it's origional color - light green, I believe. I really don't know if the engine/trans are origional or not. I'd appriciate any input anyone might have.
I'll try to get you the #s so you can register it and maybe some pics some day!
Thanks, Jere

Hey Cliffhanger -

Go ahead and give us your VIN and other info below the VIN, and I (or someone) will decode it for you. If your truck was light green (a killer color IMO) it was called April Green. April was the name of a psycho-b*tch from h*ll I dated a few years back. I saw things I thought only happend in movies....WOW! Anyway, I think of her every time I hear that color name!

Registry

Shane,

My '60 Stylesides was delivered today and I wanted to get you my numbers. Outside of the VIN (F10JOK38585), I don't see the other information. I have no information on the glovebox door or on the door jamb. Where else might I locate this information?
Truck is a bit rough, but I expected that much. This will be a long project....

Shane,

I seem to be having problems replying to your email as the forum won't let me access the email section.
In short -

the truck is all original as far as I can tell; it was originally a Nebraska farm truck. The engine is a 223 with 4-on-the-floor. It is a Custom Cab, but not with a two-tone paint. Paint is a minty green. The bed is 8-foot. I do not see any signs of rivets on the glove box door, nor in the door jambs. I have seen images of these vehicle tags on the web, but have not as yet located one on my ride.

Hope that is enough to get you started. As I dig into this vehicle over the next few weeks maybe I'll locate some additional info for you.

Hey your truck's #78 BTW.

Man that's wierd. I would assume a Custom Cab from 1960 would:

A) Have the VIN tag
B) Be a two tone paint scheme

The minty green you're talking about is Adriatic green (W). Typically, '59 and '60 Custom Cabs were 2 toned, of course, white w/the base color. Could your doors w/the logo be replaced? Do you have the Custom steering wheel?

If you need to make up a VIN plate, here's what it would look like so far:

F10J0K38585
118 W F100 (date code) F 01 (or 02 for 3.89s)
5000 126 4000

All you're missing is the date code and the confirmation on the rear gear size.
Get some pics up! And email me the pics too...my address is sixoh at yahoo.com
