'59 Ford cont...for the third time...phew!!

Hopefully third times a charm and ill get it all out. After i read all the posts, i realized i left some info out.

Paint looked to be a dark green first and then canary yellow over it and now classic rust over it. All original except the engine.

Can anybody break down the ser# for me? I got k is Kansas city, Mo. but i havent seen color code s yet and am i right that date 13D is April 13, 1959? Trans is "A" which is 3 "on the tree"

As soon as i get pics, i will email them.

Thanks,
Mike Weyermiller

I apologize ahead of time, as this may be a stupid question, but does the registry have an internet address? Wademo

Not a stupid question at all. The Registry is just getting up with a front page, I don't believe the links are active just yet. Look at www dot lovefords dot org/walp

Thanks Dana

Hey gtrplyrguy - Thanks for verifying the colors for me. That "S" opn yours means it was a special paint color. The DSO # probably means it was part of a fleet. Keep ahold of that 312, man, that's kool!

Just thought I'd add my beast to the registry. I just picked up a '58 F100 Styleside short bed. If memory serves, it was originally a 272 truck, not sure which tranny. It currently has a poorly swapped 400 and c-6. I'll hafta go out and look again, but I'm pretty sure the tag in the glove box is missing.

The vin is F10L8R11106
I've got some pics posted in the 48-60 forum...

It would be nice if this encourages parts suppliers to start making more 57-60 parts. I have had to resort to finding NOS parts on E-bay for most of the items I needed. It would be nice to see someone make Styleside tailgates, Oil and Gen light lenses, horn rings, speaker grills, hubcaps, and emblems for the 57-60 models.

Here is what I have:

1960 Ford F-100
F10C0R21330
Custom Cab
Shortbed, Styleside
2 WD
292 2 bbl
3-spd light duty transmission, column shift
127,000 original miles on unrebuilt original engine and transmission. All numbers matching, daily driver (40 miles a day).

Thanks guys for the info. Your registry #s are 194 and 195. Transam - give me the color and date codes for your truck, too.

Also, you guys need to give me a good (flattering) pic of your trucks. Otherwise, when your VIN is represented in the registry, there'll only be a pic of a hood emblem in place where your pics should be!

As far as the parts that aren't being made for these trucks....I'm working on that too. Gimme a little bit.....

The lower body color is B (Turquoise M30J-556) and the upper body color is M (Corinthian White M30J-1238). Date code is 16M (December 16). The truck was built in San Jose, CA with a rear axle code of OA (3.73-3.3M Limited Slip). I'm not sure how to post pictures on this site. I have a few to post if someone can guide me through the process.

Ok, well the tag is still in the glove box, but I've got an interesting issue. The VIN on the tag doesnt match the registered vin...uh oh.

Here's the glove box info..

Serial # F10C8L12435
WB: 110
Color: RE
Date: 03 F
Trans: B
Axle: 02
Cert HP: 153 @4100 RPM
Max GVW: 5000

and again, the Serial # on the title/registration is: F10L8R11106

Any ideas?

Is there a parts relationship between the F-series and the P-series from those years? Also are parts slightly changed from year to year or is there a span of years where the same parts were used? Love to know!

What it is, is an aluminum box van, like a bread van, built by aerobilt, a subsidiary of Grumman. I was told they built airplanes in WWII and after built these aluminum vans since they had the tooling. It has the same frame, chassis, rearend etc as the 1955 F350 I have. I believe the van to be 59 but I am not sure, thats why I put the Vin number out for somebody to help me out.The P must be because it is a Ford chassis only, not a ford body.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bill

Bill not sure if shane got back to you, but I'll decode your vin:

P400, G.V.W of 10,000lbs, 223 inline six, 1959 year, built in Lorain, Ohio

wheelbase is 137in, color I don't have, but then again it was just the parcel front end, P400 model, it was built on may 16th 1958, 3spd warner T-87 tranny, 5.14 rear axle ratio, 10,000 gvw rating, 126 net h.p, @ 4000r.p.m and has a domestic special order code of 1963 63 may stand for the memphis area. -4speed
