Mods vs. Warranty

Mods vs. Warranty
i'm new to FTE, just got an S-cab FX4. so far all i've added was a flowmaster (which i'm happy with). i see a bunch of people lifting their trucks, and i'd eventually like to lift mine. isn't there any concern about voiding the warranty? how does that work? i stuck with the 3yr/36,000 plan.

From what I have seen about this subject in here before, FMC would have to prove that the aftermarket accessory actually caused a problem with the part in question. I would just make sure that a qualified mechanic does anything you add that isn’t a straight up bolt on item (i.e. lift kits, superchargers, etc.). At least if there is a problem you would have some recourse against that mechanic.

Unfortunately, Ford doesn't have to prove anything. If you've lifted the truck and the rear axle goes, Ford can deny warranty coverage on the axle. They could not, however, deny coverage on the radio because of the lift. There's just no way that lifting the truck could cause a radio problem.

Thing to REMEMBER
If you make Mods to your truck and experience any problems and you take it into the dealership to get worked on - BE NICE! Don't go in all attitude'd out and they will probably warrant it depending on the item. I have an excellent relationship with my dealership and have had ZERO problems getting work performed when I had a 2000 Ranger 4x4 / 2002 F150 Fx4 SCab and now the new 2004 Fx4. Be nice and they will probably take care of you.

Just bribe the service writer! Now seriously, my last f150 had 7 inches of lift and i never had any warranty work denied. Just find a local dealership with nice friendly service writers and you will be ok. Remember they get paid to work on your vehicle from Ford so it isnt costing them anything. Still a lil cash to the servicewriter dont hurt LOL !
