true dual

Would making my 5.4L V8 a true dual exhaust make any difference in the performance/sound? I'm currently running a FM 40 off of the stock pipes. Is there another muffler that anyone would recommend using for making it a dual with piped coming straight out the back? What size pips are recommended?

Thanks

Oh yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I'm a exhaust freak. Yes it would actually. It would open up that restriction and give you a nice tone. For mufflers it depends on what sound you want. Some people like flows but some people like magniflow. Some people like me like dynomax super turbo's for that muscle car sound. Gotta love it. Some people even like glasspacks.
For tips you just need to find out what looks good on your rig. I mean you could do them straight out the back, or off to the side lightning style, or out the sides like mine. I really like the out the sides and lightning style cause not too many guys have it. Tip size depends on what looks good. Too big and you look obnoxious, too small and well why'd you bother. Mostly some people use 3 1/2" -4 1/2" tips but they are long enough so people can't see them until they look underneath. Tips will give you a deeper note as well, depending on how long they are. Hope this helps.

Hey, thanks a lot for the advice. I'm definately looking for that muscle car/race truck sound that just screams out with power. I've never heard of Dynomax before. Do you have a link to their website or a place where I can find more info on their mufflers?

Would a 2 2.5" pips be good for this or would it lose too much low end torque because of losing too much backpreasure? Would I need to get new headers to make this a true dual?

Thanks again

Not sure on the headers deal, but ya 2.25" or 2.5" is good for the 5.4L. Sounds like you want something really agressive. Headers would make it retarded nice and you would be heard by everyone.

http://www.dynomax.com/ - Look for the ultra flo's and super turbo's.

Also try exhaustsoundclips.com.
I've got a few sound clips of my exhaust if you'd like them just ask.
