Hello all,

I have a 2000 expedition with the 5.4L engine.77k miles,,,,,,When I step on the gas from a dead stop iT hesitates real bad and even died once,,,,,but only if I step on the gas lightly.....if i really stomp on it from a dead stop it will not do this....then when I get to cruising speed (40-50mph) and the RPM is at 1300-1700....it feels like I have a mis..........but again if i press the pedal harder it goes away....It has not given me a check engine light even once so I dont think there are any codes to look for.......this problem is also very intermittent because it did not do it at all yesterday but it did today???????????????any suggestions would be very helpful....from what I have read It could be a COP from one or more of the Cyl...or the fuel pump getting to hot,,, or a dirty MAF or maybe even a bad O2 sensor...anyway I figured I would check with the experts before I started shotgunning this problem.....

 

I would suggest cleaning the MAF first. There is a good article in the 97-03 F150 forum FAQ abut this.
