Ford Super Duty VS Honda Accord - Viva La Bam
Anyone watch Viva La Bam on MTV? Last Episode they used a Super Duty to drag a Honda Accord straight up a tree... only pics I could find so far where on the MTV websight...
Click on the link that says Photos Episode 207 at the bottom... and go to photo 61 and 62
They used a pulley tied between the trees and a tow rope and the Ford drug the car straight up the tree, then Bam cut the rope and let it drop about 15 feet... it was great, best use of a Honda I've seen in years.
It just felt right...

The Honda probably started and drove away. I bought a new '86 Honda Accord and drove it for 12.5 years before it's first failure (fuel pump - I drove it to the dealer). It was looking and running great when I traded it on my new '99 Ranger. The Ranger was towed to the dealer with less than 1K miles for a new PCM, then had a power window track replaced at 5K, then had a recall for some small part. If the contest was which could pull the other up a tree, I'd bet on the SD, If the contest was which would last longest and be more reliable, my money would be on the Accord.

i'd have to agree on honda's lasting. i beat on my integra everyday and it must like it. takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. after my 97 F150 blowing a headgasket...i am a little discouraged. by my work truck is a strong truck.
btw...i saw you're from denton. my girlfriend goes to UNT, denton's a nice little town.

i have to agree, my honda gave me much fewer problems than and other car in our family. had a 93 honda accord that my dad bought new then my older brother had it then i got it. in all those miles it never had a major repair needed. except for the clutch i fried! . fun car too. but just didn't do very good in the mud, thats why i have my truck now.

Sometimes a Ford will surprise you. I have a '89 5.0 Mustang 120,000 miles. Only thing ever replaced on the engine was the water pump and heater core. The 5 spd transmission was rebuilt once and needs it again. The the transmission and heater core and transmission are known problems that Ford screwed up on. I wouldn't consider that too bad. It still has the origional hoses. It's been run pretty rough too. Through my high school and collage days.
Take care of them and they should last.

My uncles bronco got 250k mi and the only issue with the engine was a water pump replaced once...the truck only had minor up-keep too...that same uncle has a 78 F-250 custom that is 100% original and still works... I..and several others..could sit here all day with stories...its a mute point so we don't really need to discuss all our stories.

Yeah, they give Don Vitto hell on there... remember when they trashed his S10 with the front end loader for loosing on their game show.
Must be nice to be able to trash stuff and relieve stress like that whenever you wanted to... and not worry about how much it $$$$.
I wonder if anyone even read the first post in this thread... everybody seems to want to brag on their honda, like I said anything about how durable they were or anything. All I said was using the Superduty to drag it up a tree (they were testing to make sure the trees would hold the weight of the tree house casino) was the "best use of a honda I had seen in years". You guys use em for whatever you want too... I would much rather kill it by draging it around with a brand new Super Duty truck and drop it from tree tops just to watch it break than to have to drive one every day for 250,000 miles to kill it. That wouldn't make much of a TV show either, kinda lame don't ya think... "My Sucky Life" watch me kill this honda civic by driving it to work and back every day, you'll get to see all the door dings, the oil changes and tire rotations, and all the miles until finally it dies... tune in next week and see "Someone steels my hubcaps!"
BAH!

Thats why I stepped in to cut off million honda/ford durability stories...and to bring the thread back to the original topic and stop the "hi-jack".
