Advice needed: My new truck comes in on Tuesday.

Hello,

I'm a long time reader of this board, and have gathered a LOT of information re: the new F-150. I ordered my truck, 5.4L SuperCrew Lariat, and it should arrive this Tuesday.

I'd like some advice for what to check for while I'm inspecting my potential new vehicle.

So far this is what I have as a checklist:

-From a stop, put the pedal to the metal and see if there's any hesitation.

-While driving on the highway, around 55, look in the rear-view for any bed movement.

-When braking, feel for any steering wheel vibration.

-While on the highway, at speeds above 55MPH, listen for any whistling noise.

-Notice how cold (or not) the AC unit is. See how quickly it takes to cool down.

Anything else I should look for? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Soon to be proud new owner of the best truck out there!!

WOW!!! Just take it for a ride and enjoy.....The chances are slim to none that you will have any of these problems...As far as the throttle response there is and will always be a bit of "lag" because of the drive by wire.....Our bmw had it and so does our a-6....When you get used to it you will like it.
Good luck and don't let some of the rambling on this site take anything away from your first impressions!

I agree with hovy. Just enjoy your truck. I suspect that many of the discussions on this site regarding problems with the new F-150 are really Chevy drivers trying to cause concern. I got my 2004 screw two weeks ago. It's perfect! A real pleasure to drive. No vibrations. Quiet. Throttle response great. 112 degrees in Phx this week -- AC works great. Quit worrying and get excited that you will have your new truck on Tuesday!
