coolant leak???
i have a 2001 explorer sport 4.0 sohc. thanks to the post under "faulty thermostat?" i located the problem with my vehicle overheating and changed out my thermostat. i drove around for 30 minutes anticipating for something to go wrong since i am not a mechanic and i thought that was all to easy.
now i have a small coolant leak problem. it is not coming from the thermostat housing. i changed out my radiator drain plug because i overtighten the first one and broke it. there are drops of coolant on the plastic cover under the radiator and the coolant is cool. what areas can i check for leaks?
thanks in advance
Most likely, when you overtightened the drain plug, you cracked the housing, stripped the threads, etc.
If they're still making these out of plastic (as on my 94 Explorer), good luck getting it fixed, you might have to replace it (the radiator).
