What's wrong with the automatic you have now? I have a T18 in my '81.

 

Well, its had work to stop a leak that occurred at operating temp. No leaks now, but feels soft at shifts and I would be afraid to pull any significant loads.

What do you mean by C-6 "takes more power" ? Will my 4.9 not be enough for the C-6 trans ? What do you mean ? Is a C-6 too much for my setup ?
Is C-4 a tougher trans than the E4OD, and will it haul OK ? (boats, campers, etc)
Are both of these trasmissions "bolt-on" or are we talking about modifications ?

 

4.9s have c6 trannys, I think he meant it would take more power to operate, aka parastatic drag.
