Can someone please help me?

I have a 1975 f-100, 302 Cleveland on gas, 2x4, and i want to put power steering on the *******!

the 2 problems are:

1st Problem:
Was after a second hand powersteering box, and i want to know if a ZJ Power steering box will fit and if not, WHAT WILL!!?? i have asked heaps of people and no one knows if i can get a power steering box of another ford and have it fit in my f100

2nd Problem: once i have installed powersteering will i have to get custom made extractors to make way for the power steering box? or is the steering box no bigger so i can have my standard extractors,

I have found there is a somewhat rare power gear box on those earlier trucks. I dont know if the F100 had them, But I do know that 250's and 350's had a box with a really long output shaft housing and they are hard to find. I sold a used one for $200 USD.



What do you mean by "extractor" ?

 

Extractors, i mean headers - exhaust system..

The part you need is a factory 73-79 2wd power steering box. The cars are different. I believe a 2wd F250/F350 box will work on your F100 too, but I'm not positive.

I installed power steering on my '73 F100 2wd and the exhaust was not a problem, the power box is almost exactly the same size as the non power box. Later I put headers on and no problems with those either.

Wait a minute, is yours right hand drive? That may change things... I have no experience with right hand drives.

From what i know about 73-79 LH drives, the car steering boxes are different. The only direct bolt-on replacement is from a 73-79 pickup. With some thought and custom fabrication, you may be able to make the car box work, but it would be easier/safer to find the correct box...

yeah sweet thanx mate,

i just bought the whole power steering kit "ZJ" off ebay for $57 AUS which is bloody cheap anyway so if it dont fit ill sell it to a mate who has a XD, here is the site again if anyone else knows bout the steering box.

I would love to find out if you got the ZJ power steery box to fit, or did you have sell it to the mate with the XD. I have a 76 f100 and live in oz, so would liketo find out.
