I have a 2001 4x4 SC with the V10 that I'm about to put a set of 295 BFG Ats on. First, from those running the 295s, was the leveling kit necessary or just cosmetic? I certainly prefer the look of the level truck but can't afford to do the tires and the lift all at once... Are the tires going to fit using the stock lariat wheels?
2nd, how is the Edge 2" leveling kit any different than running a 2" block up front? It seems to me that, in essence, its just a wolf in sheep's clothing... please correct me if I'm wrong. I like the simplicity of the kit, but don't want to run the risk of something bad happening! TIA.
Yeah, I agree that front blocks are bad. I'm trying to understand how the edge kit is different? Does the length of the spring prevent them from spitting out like a block would?
I had 305's on my old 2002 4x4. They only rubbed when I was turning and hit a bump. The rubbed the inner rear fender. They where on the stock lariat wheels. I never got to offraod in them since i traded the truck in a week after, but I think there would been a lot of rubbin goin on.
Celizsherron, you're correct! No lift and on the stock rims, they barely fit just like the picture shows.
Mind you I had my front suspension flexed pretty good while off-road when I took that picture, so if you do normal street driving, I'm pretty sure a 295 will never get that close to the wheel well.
I think with a 2" leveling kit, it'll look KILLER with 295's or 305's. I think having the front lifted is key, you really can't tell I've got bigger than stock tires on my truck! Stock trucks look like they've got more lift than me, it's the whole illusion of the space between the tire, and the wheel well. Oh well, only I know what I got!
