78 door latch problems
i have a 78 bronco and i am having problems getting the door to open and close. my bronco is rather rusty from the michigan salt and the bottoms of the doors are rusted open, i think this is what is causing my problems. i have to lift the outside hadle with alot of force to get the door to open, and the locks dont work. i think they are rusted. i have to slam the door hard a couple of times to get it to close. i have sprayed them inside and out with wd40 but that did not help. anyone else have this problem. i am going to take the door apart and see if i can fix it, anyone have any advice for me.

Are the hinge bushings worn? Does the door sag? Open the door part way and try lifting on the end of it - is there play in the hinges? If so, you need a pin a bushing kit installed. A sagging door will cause extra pressure on the latch and makes it harder to open and close the door. Check it out.
